A Negroni is an Italian cocktail, made of one part gin, one part sweet vermouth and one part Campari, garnished with orange peel. It is considered an aperitivo and traditionally served over ice.
It is said that the Negroni originated in Florence, Italy in 1919 when Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni asked the bartender, to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water.
